Hello North Carolina Bicycle Club Members and Friends,
The Raleigh Bicycle Transportation Plan needs our help. The Bicycle Plan Committee has recommended hundreds of improvements to the City's Roads, Streets, and Traffic Facilities to improve conditions for bicycle commuters.
However, they do not have the resources to ride-test these improvements. They have primarily either driven cars through these areas, or examined them using Google Earth. In order to ensure that these improvements will meet the needs of cyclists, the plan would greatly benefit from having bicyclists ride the affected areas and report firsthand on how effective the recommended improvements will be.
Do you already bicycle commute in the City of Raleigh? Or, is bicycle commuting an option that you would consider in order to help improve conditions for bicyclists? Do you ride recreationally in or near Raleigh?
The North Carolina Bicycle Club has volunteered to help coordinate ride testing the Bicycle Plan Improvements and to compile and organize our feedback. If you're willing to ride-test the Raleigh Bicycle Transportation Plan improvements, please send email to "
ridetheplan@ncbikeclub.org". Let us know the following: your name, email address, phone number (if you're willing), and the general area where you're willing to ride-test planned improvements in Raleigh.
Brian McCrodden has agreed to help organize our ride testing on behalf of NCBC. Due to the plan schedule, we have only the remainder of the Fall for performing this testing. We will be getting in touch with you over the next week or so to coordinate our ride testing effort.
